Paper Schmaper!

The current quest these days is to find a nice quality paper for producing prints, which has become something of an epic battle against the dragon of all dragons, a professional archival printer. It’s a great printer. It’s just that I don’t know it well enough yet.

“House of Scratch” Yard & Bake Sale Fundraising Event

Weather permitting has been something of a catch phrase this summer. Sick of the rain yet? I certainly am. For two weekends, Sean and I have been planning a yard and bake sale to raise money to reduce the cost of hosting House of Scratch’s inaugural physical group exhibition only to cancel due to the weather.

According to weather predictions, Saturday, August 1, 2009 promises to be a good day, where hopefully everyone who has been hiding in doors to avoid getting wet will finally emerge to get some fresh air and sun.

So… Without further ado… The House of Scratch Yard & Bake Sale Extravangaza will be held…

August 1 (Saturday): 7am to whenever – weather pending!

2-276 Gilmour Avenue (Toronto, ON)

We have a great mix of items on sale, some new, some gently used. Among the big ticket items are an electric guitar and amp and a lonely snare drum looking for a drum kit to call home. There will be various housewares, childrens toys, arts and craft supplies, books, videos, and PC video games, not too mention baked goodies. Yum! Also available will be raffle tickets for an original Sean Chappell original.

To anyone in the Toronto area, hope to see you there!

At last, some success!

The Switch Over

Articles about writing are prolific on the Internet. Tons galore of professional writers offering their techniques and advice ad redundancy, and add the refrain “every writer’s journey is different”. Pile on the memoir-esque writings on writing (mine included) and saturation comes to mind.

It’s all wonderful, yet there is no pull there for me. There is no true willingness to contribute to it all, simply because I haven’t anything new to offer… yet.

I’ve always just wanted to write stories. Since quitting four years ago, a lot of ground has been lost with that. Lately, the struggle with some short stories, a novella, and the plotting of a novel, has all been going so very slow. My boyfriend assures me that both speed and discipline will pick up, as long as I stay focused and stick with it.

Stick with what exactly?
